Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the name for a collection of lung diseases including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic obstructive airways disease.
People with COPD have difficulties breathing, primarily due to the narrowing of their airways, this is called airflow obstruction.
COPD App for NHS Ayrshire & Arran
The Respiratory Managed Clinical Network (MCN) and the Technology Enabled Care (TEC) team have just launched the Ayrshire & Arran COPD App and would encourage patients, families, carers and staff to download it.
The App is intended to help people living with COPD manage their health and wellbeing, and contains information and tips about:
- Local services and support
- Managing your COPD and living well
- Benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation, and how to get involved
- Managing flare ups
- Weather forecasts to help you manage your COPD
- Medication and inhaler guidance
- Helpful websites
- Alerts for important information
The App is available for iphones and Android phones, ipads and tablets.
To get the app:
